BHUBANESWAR, (Smart Cities Mission): On Saturday, The state capital has emerged as the fourth-ranked city among the top 10. Livable capital cities in India in the Ease of Living Index Report 2020, released by the New Delhi-based Centre for Science and Environment (CSE). According to the report, Bengaluru is the most livable capital city in India followed by Chennai and Shimla. While Bhubaneswar scored 59.85 points in the Ease of Living Index, Bengaluru, Chennai, and Shimla got 66.7, 62.61, and 60.90, respectively. Mumbai fetched 58.23 points with Delhi getting 57.56.
It is classified into Four parameters i.e.; quality of life, economic ability, sustainability, and perception of citizens – were used to determine the score on the Ease of Living Index. While the Odisha capital scored the highest is 94.8 points in the citizen perception survey, it did not do so well inability parameter, managing just 11.57 ranking points out of 100. While Bengaluru topped the economic ability parameter with 78.82 points, Jaipur emerged as the worst capital with 10.49. Out of 10 capital cities, Bhubaneswar was ninth in this parameter.
Bhubaneswar received 51.79 points in the quality of life index and 57.77 in sustainability. Other cities have fared well in these two parameters. Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited in collaboration with BMC and BDA had carried out a massive drive in February 2020 by organizing campaigns to motivate the public to boost the citizen perception and creating awareness survey across the city.
