LUCKNOW, INDIA (Smart Cities News): The union ministry of housing and urban affairs (MOHUA) is organizing a three-day expo cum conference on New Urban India from Thursday to Saturday, i.e., 26th August to 28th August 2021, as part of “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” to celebrate 75 years of India’s independence.
The event will be held at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan in Lucknow and will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.
The state urban development department will be divided into three components, i.e., national exhibition, 75 innovative constructed technologies and collection on UP transforming urban landscape, said Ministry officials.
According to the official’s report, UP is likely to be featured prominently in the exhibition, which is expected to be a significant pointer to India’s rapid pace of urbanization and challenges like sanitation, civic infrastructure, congestion, pollution, mobility housing etc. The centre has launched various national urban missions for addressing multiple issues about urbanization.
The event is proposed to be themed on projections like “Clean Urban India”, signifying zero open defection, clean and hygienic public /community toilets, clean streets/public places and scientific processing of municipal solid waste. Besides this, the exhibition will highlight water-secure cities (cities with 100% tap water connections), housing for all (cities with proper housing facilities), new construction technologies, smart cities development, sustainable development, mobility, smart solutions etc.
The objective of this event is to promote “Ease of Living” and “Ease of Doing Business” with sustainability, social-economic, environmental and cultural to facilitate cities to contribute to the economy to achieve the goals of $5-10 trillion mark with the minimal carbon footprint.
