HYDERABAD, INDIA (Smart Cities News): On Tuesday, Andhra Pradesh Municipal Administration Minister Shri Botsa Satyanarayana said that Chief Minister Shri YS Jaganmohan Reddy had sanctioned Rs. One hundred fifty-three (153) crores additionally for Tirupati Smart City development focuses on cleanliness and garbage clearance in the temple city.
He was addressing a review meeting with Tirupati Mayor Shirisha and Municipal Commissioner Girisha at the conference hall of Tirupati Municipal Corporation on Tuesday.
Henceforth there would be a user charge on garbage clearance in Tirupati city, and that the people would not be a burden in the new property tax policy on the anvil. The Tirupati model of garbage collection from doorsteps from all houses was replicated in all towns and cities in the state, said Minister in the meeting.
Earlier TMC commissioner made a presentation on the Tirupati Smart City development project of Rs. Six hundred eighty-four (684) crores in which 80 planned programs were identified and implemented with 67 percent of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam’s (TTD) funds and 33 percent smart city corporation.
He urged the city farmers (Corporators and Municipal Officials) to visit the city colonies and roads to supervise the garbage clearance activity. He said that the new property tax policy, the charges are just Rs. 350 for houses of 300 sq. ft, benefiting 60 percent of temple city citizens. Moreover, each house tax details are digitised to assist people in mint future transactions.
In his presentation, the TMC commissioner said that daily, 150 tonnes of waste are collected in Tirupati city through waste management. He told the Garuda Varadhi flyover to reduce pilgrim traffic in Tirupati will be opened up in September 2021.
Other prominent works underway are Prakasam and Padmavati parks Vinayaka Sagar, underground electrical cabling in 27 identified streets, solar roof energy and floating solar systems etc. E-health program for school children during covid-19, school building for 900 children and a new building for the municipal corporation.
